The puli sevai is one of the instant dish that can be served during the morning breakfast as well as it is very simple to prepare with only home ingredients. Necessary ingredients
· Three cups of Rice Sevai ( Idiyappam )
· Tamarind paste a major ingredient (petite lemon size of tamarind soak in hot water & extract its juice)
· 1/2 teaspoon of jaggery ( it is an optional one )
· Roasted peanuts
· Salt as per your taste
· 1/2 teaspoon of mustard seeds
· One teaspoon of split gram dhal
· One tablespoon of chana dhal
· Two red chilies, tear it and remove its seed
· One sprig of curry leaves
· 1/4 teaspoon of Asafoetida
· 1 1/2 tablespoon of oil
Preparation direction
1. Initially you need to take the iddiyapam, either you can prepare it in home else you can buy it from store.
2. If you prepare it in home then it is preferable whereas if you buy then soak it hot with pinch of salt until it become soft.
3. Then crush it and keep it aside for the latter preparation.
4. Now heat the oil in a pan or bottomed vessel, add some mustard seeds when it splutter then ass split gram dhal and channa dhal meanwhile add some asafetida.
5. When it turns red then, add the curry leaves, dried chilies and at once add the tamarind powder and tamarind paste.
6. Cook the paste until its raw smell gets disappeared, now add the salt, jiggery, peanuts and blend it well in low flame.
7. After preparing it add the paste to the prepared rice sevai and coat it well until it spread to the overall places. Now remove it from the flame and serve it hot!!
