Probably children will like to have fast foods and chats during evening time but it is not good for their health. Instead of having such foods you can prepare some snacks in home and serve it to your children along with your endless affection. Here I have suggested you a recipe called potato bonda which is also called as batata vada. It is very simple to prepare and your children will also like it very much. Since potato and gram flour is holding carbohydrates, it will energize your child.
Ingredient needed
(i)For inside stuffing
· Three potatoes – (boiled, peeled and coarsely chopped)
· Oil - 1 tbsp
· Mustard seeds - ½ tsp
· Curry leaves - 7-10 (chopped)
· Turmeric - ¼ tsp
· Ginger - 1 tbsp (finely chopped)
· Green chili – 1 (finely chopped)
· Cilantro - 2 tblsp(chopped)
· Salt as per your taste
(ii)For Batter
· Besan gram flour - 1/2 cup
· Rice flour - 1 tblsp
· Asafetida- ¼ tsp
· Baking soda - ¼ tsp
· Red pepper - ¼ tsp
· Salt as per your taste
· Water - ¼ cup
(iii)For frying
· Oil for frying vada
Preparation direction
1. Initially you need to add all batter ingredients in a bowl and make it in to smooth batter. Keep it aside.
2. Mean time you can prepare the stuffing for that heat the oil in a small pan and add curry leaves, green chilli, ginger, turmeric powder and salt.
3. Deeply fry it for about three minutes and finally mix coriander leaves and switch off the flame after few minutes.
4. After it become cool then make them into small balls. Heat the oil for frying.
5. Once the oil become heated then dip the potato balls in the batter and drop them into frying pan.
6. When you see the color has been changed then take itt out and serve it hot with coriander chutney.
Note:
You can also add some veggies in the stuffing so that your children will get some more nutrition too.
