In India you can see difference in everything, the food habit will also vary. While we hear fish curry, suddenly we will get Kolkata fish curry or Kerala fish curry. In addition to it, Kolhapuri Fish Curry will also take its position. It is very simple and it is one of the familiar recipes from Maharashtra’s cuisine. If you once tasted it then it will stick to your tongue. Let’s see the ingredients required and preparation methods this special curry.
Ingredients required
· Fish - ½ kg (Cleaned & cubed)
· Yoghurt - ½ cup
· Tomato - 1 cup (Finely chopped)
· Onions - 1 cup (Finely chopped)
· Garlic paste - 1 tsp
· Coconut – ¼ cup (Grated)
· Chilly powder - 2 tsp
· Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
· Black pepper - 1 tsp (powdered)
· Broken cinnamon - 1 tsp
· Bay leaves - 2
· Cloves - 4
· 2 tbsp of oil
· Lemon juice - ½ tsp
· Coriander leaves (garnishing)
· Salt as per your taste
Preparation methods
1. Initially put the cleaned & cubed fish in a vessel and put chilli powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice, garlic paste, yogurt and salt respectively. Marinate it for at least 15 minutes.
2. Now heat the oil in a pan then add bay leaves, cinnamon, black peepers, cloves and finally onion.
3. When the oil turns from its original color and when it become transparent. Then add the grated coconut and sauté it until it turns to light brown color.
4. Now add finely chopped tomato and cook till you get dry consistency. Once it becomes dry then you need to blend it in paste form.
5. Again, heats some oil in cooking pan add the marinated fish in it and cook for 5-8 minutes then add the blended mixture into it.
6. Make your lot in medium low and cook until the blended mixture enters into the fish. Finally add coriander leaves for garnishing.
7. Switch of the flame and server it hot along with rice.
