Generally theeyal are very famous in southern region of Indian country. Kerala is very famous for its spices and so you can see spices in their recipes too. Here I am going to share one recipe called kadachakka theeyal. It is very simple and you can prepare it in very short time as show your cooking talent to your dear ones. Moreover it is very good for health and it tastes good. Let’s see the overview of ingredients required and preparation methods of this theeyal.
Ingredients
(i) Roasting and grinding
· One cup of Coconut grated
· 5 Red chilies
· 2 Cloves
· 1 1/2 " of Cinnamon stick
· 1/2 - 1 tsp Chili powder
· 1 tsp of oil
· 2 cloves of Garlic
· 1 tbsp of Coriander seeds
· 4 nos of Shallots
· 1/4 tsp of fenugreek seeds
· 1/4 tsp of fennel seeds
· 1/4 tsp of Cumin seeds
(ii) Major ingredients
· 1 1/2 cup of Kadachakka (Breadfruit) diced
· One Potato (diced)
· 1/2 tsp of Turmeric powder
· One Tomato (big)
· 1 sprig of Curry leaves
· 1/2 tsp of Garam masala (optional)
· 10 to 12 Shallots (small onion, cut it vertically)
· Mustard seeds, small amount
· Salt as per your taste
· Oil, small quantity
· Water as per your requirement
Preparation methods
1. Initially you need to heat oil in a pan, once it geet heated then add mustard seeds in it.
2. After it get splutters then add the curry leaves, potato and shallots and sauté it for some time.
3. Now add kadachakka, turmeric, breadfruit, salt, turmeric powder and water. Cook it until all the ingredients become tender.
4. On the other hand heat some oil in a pan and then roast all the roasting ingredients except chilli powder and cinnamon stick.
5. When the grated coconut become golden color then adds the chilli powder and cinnamon stick and off the stove.
6. When they cool then grind it in the form of smooth paste by adding little water.
7. Add prepared paste to kadachakka and then add a right way. Finally adjust salt and append garam masala.
8. If you need it in dried form then you need to add less water. After 3 minutes switch off stove and serve it hot along with rice.
